As I had stated in my last letter if our situation warranted, we would alter our plans as needed. Last night Bishop Trimble sent out an email that United Methodist churches should suspend worship services for 4 weeks. That is a heavy request that we have been given. I think now more than ever it is imperative that we seek God’s guidance and comfort. I also believe that we need to take every reasonable step to protect our congregation from the perils of this virus.
After much prayer and consideration, we will suspend worship for two weeks and then reevaluate at that time. It is my hope that we will provide some type of online worship experience if that is all we can do. At this time, I cannot even wrap my mind around not worshiping at Easter.
But I will not borrow tomorrow’s trouble today. Rest assured that God still holds us in the palm of his hand, and I have no doubt that we will feel his presence every step of the way.
