Ways We Serve

Free Meal

Every Wednesday

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

With a significant percentage of the Rochester Community School students on the free or reduced lunch program, the idea of a Grace free meal outreach ministry was conceived.  Held on Wednesdays, this meal is available to anyone desiring a nutritious supper and

fellowship.

We now serve over one hundred fifty people at each meal. Each week we rotate churches that prepare the meal. The churches involved are the First Christian Church, First Baptist Church, Mill Creek Church, Olive Branch, and Grace Church.

The community free meal is served every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Carry-out services are available at 6:30

The meal is located downstairs in the Fellowship Hall at Grace Church.

Coins for Christ

Coins for Christ is a quarterly fund we collect during church services. We have two Jars that we have members or guest drop coins into. These are located in the “Bridge Area” of the Church At the end of the quarter all proceeds will go to the charity that the Mission Team has designated for that quarter.

The Mission Team has selected the Riley Children’s Hospital Assistance Fund, through the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, as recipient for the Coins for Christ.  The fund will provide gas cards and meal cards for the families who need to travel to Riley as their children receive care.  Woodlawn Hospital and Jason See help distribute the cards to families needing them, often in an urgent situation.  If you wish you can also write a check to Grace Church with Riley Fund/Coins for Christ on the memo line.  Than you for blessing those in our community in their time of need.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawls ministry is a ministry we have to give peace, joy and comfort to those who are terminally ill or that have recently had a health related issues. The prayer shawls are prayed over by the pastor and the ladies who make them. Our recipients are overwhelmed by the love and comfort these bring to them!  If you knit or Crochet and would like to make a Shawl, please contact the church office!

Clean Slate

Clean Slate, a brand new ministry of Grace UMC, started in the spring of 2018!  The purpose of this ministry to to provide those in our community with hygiene products who have no way of purchasing these items. Our new Clean Slate ministry is already working on ways to use funds to provide these personal hygiene items (like soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, razors, etc.) to those who need but cannot afford them.  The hope is to expand that scope to include other ways to help people hygienically.
